Day 1. Arrival in Quito. Our representative will meet you just outside the baggage claim and transfer you to our hotel for an overnight stay. Flight LA 6359 ATL/UIO, scheduled to arrive at 20:25. Night in Quito. Overnight La Constanza. Day 2. Quito to Sachatamia. We’ll start with at 6:00 a.m. with a packed-breakfast. We’ll head straight for Yanacocha and the west slope of the western Andean cordillera. On the way, we will stop at the Yanacocha Reserve owned by the Fundacion Jocotoco, enjoy lunch and bird the unique montane forest. Our birding will be primarily on foot, walking along a road that narrows into a trail through lovely treeline forest at around 10,000-11,500 ft (3000-3500 m). Visit to Alambi Ecological reserve and finally we’re hoping to reach our lodgings at Sachatamia by late afternoon. Night at Sachatamia B, L, D Day 3 We will start with an early breakfast, at 5:30 AM. Afterward we will head out to the Silanche Bird Sancturay and the Sendero Frutitour. Enjoy a nice lunch at the Mirador de Río Blanco. In the afternoon we will drive down to the tropical forest of the Milpe Bird Sanctuary. Nights at Sachatamia. B, L, D Days 4 After an early breakfast we will drive to the Mashpi Amagusa Reserve, a reserve managed by a local family that set fruit feeders with natural perches that offer great photography opportunities. Nights at Sachatamia. B, L, D Day 5. Sachatamia – Guaycapi – Papallacta Area. We will keep birding the Sachatamia Lodge hide. Midmorning we will head off to the Guaycapi Resturant where we will enjoy a nice lunch and its feeders. Afterwards we will continue to the Papallacta Pass. Night at Mamallacta Paramo Lodge B, L, D Day 6. Papallacta Area – Guango – Casa del Duende. We will enjoy birding the lodge and its surroundings in the morning. After lunch we will start our drive down to La Casa del Duende with a stop at Guango Lodge on the way. Night at Casa del Duende B, L, D Day 7. Concierto de las Aves. We will star with breakfast at 5:30 AM. Afterwards, at 6:00 AM we will depart for the Concierto de las Aves a hummingbird garden located just 15 minutes away. Lunch at La Casa del Duende. In the afternoon, at about 15:00 we will head out to the Sardinas Village in order to visit El Templo del Búho, a family house with hummingbird’s feeders, we will enjoy bird there and its surroundings. Night at Casa del Duende B, L, D Day 8. Bermejo. We will star with an early breakfast at 5:00 AM. Afterwards, at 5:30 AM we will depart to the Bermejo river, located around 20 kilometers away from La Casa del Duende. We will enjoy birding along a nice old road along the Bermejo River and will also visit El Quetzal Bird Reserve. Lunch at La Casa del Duende. In the afternoon we will enjoy birding another nice gravel road, along the Borja river. Back for dinner at La Casa del Duende. Night at Casa del Duende B, L, D Day 9. Borja – Ama Ecolodge. We will start the day with an early breakfast. Afterwards we will start our drive to the Ama Ecolodge with possible stops along the way, if time and weather conditions permit, we will be able to stop at the Guacamayos Ridge and the Wayra Ecological Reserve. Arriving in Ama Ecolodge in time for lunch. We will spend the afternoon enjoying birding along the gardens of the Ama Ecolodge. Night at Ama Ecolodge B, L, D Day 10. Ama Ecolodge. We will start our 10 min drive, Aproxx, to the Kawana Lagoon, for a morning birding canoe ride. Return to Ama Ecolodge for lunch. In the afternoon we will enjoying birding along the road to Punta Chonta. Back for dinner Night at Ama Ecolodge B, L, D Day 11. Back to Quito Airport. Breakfast at 5:30 AM. Afterwards we will departure back to Quito Airport with a pic-nic lunch on route. We will make several stops along the way. We will enjoy a nice farewell dinner.
